Barbados Development XV 32 Renegades 17
The Barbados Development squad recorded their first victory of the season with a resounding win over a depleted Renegades RFC 32 points to 17. The Development XV loaned Renegades several players in each half.

The Development XV kicked off with the strong wind at their backs and immediately put the Renegades under pressure. The ball was taken upfield by National squad player Greg Moseley-Clarke but a good tackle by John Millar for the Development XV prevented further progress. From the ensuing ruck the Renegades moved the ball to ‘Evergreen’ Ricky Morris who jinked past two defenders before off loading to Ricky Springer who was swallowed up by the Development XV defensive line. The Development XV won the ruck and the ball was spun wide to John Millar who raced 40 metres to score an unconverted try. Development XV5 Renegades0. The Renegades restarted and the ball was gathered by Henderson Reid, setting up a maul, the ball was then cleared up field for a Renegades line out on halfway. Chris Cozier rising high in the line out for Renegades won the ball and it was spun wide to Keno Griffiths on the wing who raced down the touchline only to be caught and tackled by Leandro Jordan. The referee then awarded a penalty to the Development XV for not releasing the ball in the tackle. The ball was kicked to halfway and Miles Phillips playing his first game easily outjumped the opposition winning the line out and passing to the Development XV backs. The ball was passed to Mark Leacock in centre field who punched up the middle with two men in support, a ruck was formed and Leandro Jordan raced away to score an unconverted try. Development XV10 Renegades 0. Play then became very disjointed with neither side dominating any phase of play. Handling errors were numerous resulting in scrum after scrum. The Development XV seemed unable to move the ball away quickly from the set piece or contact area to their speedy backs and were eventually punished for playing a tight game when Ricky Morris fed Brian Benskin from a ruck , who charged over for an unconverted try. Development XV10 Renegades5. The Renegades continued to keep the pressure on, using their big forwards, Kerwin Cummings, Brian Benskin & Dwight Forde to drive forward making ground every time. In the Development XV22 m area good defence forced a knock on by the Renegades and from the scrum the Development XV won quick ball and Leandro Jordon broke down the blind side showing a clean pair of heels to the opposition scoring a try under the posts converted by Sean Ward. At half time several changes were made to the Development XV with Dwight Forde & Chris Cozier replacing John Millar & Miles Phillips respectively. Renegades kicked off, the ball was caught by Darren Brummie who drove forward setting up a ruck which was won and several charges up field by raj Edwards, Dwight Forde & Chris Cozier took the Development XV into Renegades territory but slow ball out to the backsaw the Renegades defence up quickly and stealing the ball for keno Griffiths to score an unconverted try. Development XV 17 Renegades 10. From the restart the Development XV won the ball and drove the Renegades back but slow ball at the breakdown lost any advantage the Development XV had gained, as the Rene backline moved up quickly stifling any attacking ploys the Development XV used. Chad Sandiford was then moved to scrum half for the Development XV and the ball was moved more quickly to the backs where Mark Leacock dummied a would-be tackler and scored wide out. Development XV 22 Renegades10. The Development XV continued to use their forwards to drive up field before releasing their backs against a disorganised defence. From one such play initiated by Sean Ward the ball was moved through several pairs of hands for Sean Ward to loop around and score an unconverted try. Development XV27 Renegades10. the Renegades threw everything into attack, but the Development XV defence was sound and forced an error out wide where Kevin carter picked up the loose ball and raced over from 50 metres to score an unconverted try. Development XV 32 Renegades10. The Development XV were soon defending as the Renegades mounted a barrage of attacks and eventually john Millar scored a try for Renegades, which he also converted. The next game at the Garrison is the Championship semi-final between Renegades RFC and Scorpions RFC on 25th February at 4.00 pm.
