The Barbados National Selectors are pleased to announce the 22 members of the National Team that will represent Barbados in the Rugby World Cup Qualifying tournament in Guyana August 6-13th. The players have been training for the past four months that has included games against two university and British Army regiment sides. The team is a blend of experience and youth. Eight players from the 2000/1 youth sides are in the squad while veteran players such as Kip Blumenshein, Denniston Shepard and Adon Rogers are back for their third world cup qualifier. Also, the team is complemented by a number of UK based players, including Jamie Vernon and Stephen Millar who went overseas to test their ability against UK competition.Two additional players will be named to the squad later this week. With veteran Captain George Nicholson unavailable because of work commitments, two co-captains will be named prior to the tournament.
The team is looking to build on its last performance when it moved from 6th in RWC '99 Qualifiers to 3rd in RWC'03 Qualifiers.
